About the event

The last event in the tour through the Jewish Calendar will be Sukkot.  Adult learning will be focused on the sense of hearing/sound and the concept of “The joy and unity that are the essence of our commitment to G‑d, and which were "concealed" by the awe that characterizes the first days of Tishrei, erupt on the 15th of the month in the form of the festival of Sukkot.” The sense of taste will be provided by sampling a variety of kosher baked goods and four species lemonade from the employees of Celebration Company West.  The third sense will be smell, citron flavored sensory tables will be available for the children to explore while adults can make a citrus stove top potpourri.  For the sense of sight, adults and children alike will come together to build a sukkah out of magnetic tiles, celebrating the sight of beautiful colors and teamwork this will take skill and patience. Lastly, the sense of touch, adults and children can join and create a collaborative nature weaving art piece to symbolize the s’chach of the roof of the sukkah.  This art piece can then be rotated throughout the various BYachad communities to be on display as a culmination of the year's events and a testament to the collaborative nature of community.
